Allinge Customs House and Warehouse

The old customs house in Allinge was built in 1909 and is on 2 floors. The building was erected on the site of a 7-storey half-timbered house from 1827. From 1877 to 1908 the building was owned by Otto Wilhelm Alexander Marchmann, colloquially known as Mester. He was mayor, postmaster and customs inspector and had a post and customs office at this address. In 1905 the post office was moved to Kirkegade.

In 1908, the Directorate General of Customs took over the building, which was demolished shortly afterwards and the new building erected. In 1973 the Customs Office was closed and the building sold to a private person. Today Cafe Sommer is located in the building.

The old warehouse was built in 1867 and has 3 floors. From 1910 – 1988 Allinge Harbour owns the warehouse. and part of the building will be rented to the East Bornholm Steamship Company. The building is sold in 1988 and condominiums and a shop are built in the warehouse.
